Company raises funds for JDRF for tenth consecutive year
ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2013--
Build-A-Bear
Workshop®, the interactive retailer of customized stuffed
animals, announced today the continuation of its support for JDRF in
honor of National Diabetes Awareness Month. Since 2003, as part of the
company’s commitment to children’s health and wellness causes,
Build-A-Bear Workshop® has partnered with its Guests to raise
more than $730,000 in support of JDRF. This November, the annual
campaign allows Guests to add $1 (or more) to their total purchase at
Build-A-Bear Workshop stores in the United States and online at buildabear.com.
All store locations in Canada will also be offering special purple satin
hearts available for $1 to support JDRF.
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D)
research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from
people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates
with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the
scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better
treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
Build-A-Bear Workshop invites Guests to join in support of JDRF’s
efforts to significantly advance the care of people with this disease
and to expand the critical scientific understanding of T1D. Funds raised
throughout November will be directed to JDRF chapters throughout North
America. Additionally, Build-A-Bear Workshop supports many chapters with
in-kind donations for special events and also donates bears for the
young delegates who participate in the JDRF Children’s Congress.
“JDRF would like to express our sincere gratitude for the continued
support of Build-A-Bear Workshop and its Guests in funding type 1
diabetes research,” said Margo K. Lucero, Vice President, Corporate
Development, JDRF. “Every dollar donated through this campaign, whether
in store or online, helps JDRF to continue funding type 1 diabetes
research worldwide, and to improve the lives of children and adults
living with the disease.”
Build-A-Bear Workshop believes in the teddy bear philosophy of being
good people and good bears. Throughout its 16-year history, Build-A-Bear
Workshop has given Guests a voice in supporting causes that are
important to them, including children’s health and wellness, literacy
and education, animals and the environment. Since the company’s
inception, Build-A-Bear Workshop has donated more than $31 million to
these causes.
